Stretch mark bleaching agents: are they effective?
Stretch marks can be irritable. In most of the cases they are not only physically disturbing but also mentally disturbing as well. All of us want to get rid of this stretch mark element. The answer to this is available in many forms. The Bleaching agents, irrespective of any brand names, unfortunately, very rarely effective in treating the stretch marks. They do not heal or help in the formation of new skin proteins or the collagen in the skin; they merely bleach the affected area. Contrarily, when the bleached area is exposed to sunlight, the reaction might reverse leading to still complicated problems.
When applied over the skin they may not be really safe to the skin. The bleaching agents contain chemical agents called the hydroquinone. These agents are the major cause for allergies of the skin in many cases. They are skin irritant and have been discovered as a potent carcinogen that is the agents that causes cancer of the skin. Many health regulators have banned the use of bleaching agents due to high risk involved in using them. They can be bought only on the advice of a practiced medical officer or doctor.
